Boruca Counting Worksheet

The Boruca language is nearly extinct today and the remaining Borucas who still speak it have been heavily influenced by Spanish. You can see that three of the numerals in this list-- siyete, nuwebe, and diyes-- have been borrowed from the Spanish numerals siete, nueve, and diez. In a Boruca vocabulary from a century ago, the original word for "seven" was given as kuú qkú, but even then the Spanish numerals were normally used for numbers higher than eight.
