Native American Headdress
Native American culture is deeply imbedded in the lives of many people. The
American Indians were the First Nation of North America, and are located throughout
Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Because many Indians have immersed
into American culture, several people have traces of Native American origin
in their family line. Unfortunately, as more and more Indians began establishing
a life outside the reservation, they no longer continued to uphold some of
their family’s way of life and traditions. Of course, there are still
a number of Indians who keep in mind their ancestral roots and customs. For
this reason, they may craft Native American gifts, or collect a variety of
Native American items. A Native American headdress is a common collectible
item by American Indians and non-Indians.
A Native American headdress is typically worn by the tribe leader or chief.
Moreover, it was common for the Indians to wear headdress during ceremonial
events or custom rituals. Because the Indians were very industrious, they
would craft their own headdress. By and large, headdresses were made from
turkey or bird feathers, and included other decorative features and colors
for style. Additionally, headdresses were created in multiple sizes.
Today, a Native American headdress can be purchased as a collectible item.
If seeking an authentic headdress, you can expect to pay several hundred
dollars. These headdresses are handcrafted by Native Americans. In fact,
if you were to visit a Native American gift shop, you will likely find a
variety of colorful and unique styles. On the other hand, if looking for
an inexpensive collectible headdress, you can choose a replica design. While
the design is similar to an authentic headdress, the materials used to make
the headdress may vary. Furthermore, you might consider taking advantage
of companies that create unique or custom Indian headdresses.
