The spelling of Beothuk
Q: Why do you spell the word "Beothuk" different ways on your website?

A: Since Beothuk
was traditionally not a written language, the spelling
of Beothuk words in the English alphabet is not
consistent. Both "Beothuk" and "Beothuck" are commonly
used in the literature, and the tribe no longer exists
today, so there is no officially preferred spelling.
