Learning Delaware
Q: I am Delaware and would like to learn it before I
die and so I can pass it on
to my kids my tribe came from Okahoma and info will
be greatly appreciated.
A: The best language lessons I know of in Delaware are the
Western Delaware Language program,
which comes with audio tapes of fluent Delaware speakers as well as a workbook.
There are also free materials we have linked to from
our page http://www.native-languages.org/lenape.htm,
but if you want to really learn the language, you
won't be able to do that from a website-- you'll need
to either take a class (which isn't possible in most
states) or buy an audio course so you and your kids
can hear the words.
Best of luck with this endeavor and if there's
anything we can do to help, please let us know.
Language loss is conquered one child at a time...
Have a good day!
