Maricopa Indian Language
Maricopa is a Yuman language of what is now Arizona,
considered by some linguists to be a member of the larger
Hokan language family.
Today most Maricopa people live together with their Pima neighbors in the
Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
The language has been in decline, but some young Maricopas are working to keep their ancestral language alive.
