Like many South American languages, Muinane does not have many number words-- really only two.
It is possible to count to high numbers in Muinane, but only by using long compound words
combining the numbers one and two with the words for "hand" (húse).
For example, the word for "eight," sahúse júúgahuseti mínooci sáano, literally means
"one hand and two plus one on the hand on the other side."
Most Muinane people today use borrowed Spanish numerals instead of these traditional
counting words.
