Like most Jivaroan languages, Aguaruna does not have many number words (really only four.) It is possible to count to high numbers in Aguaruna, but only by using long compound words combining the words for one through four with "hand" (uwej) and "foot" (dawe.) Today, most Aguaruna people use Spanish numerals to count higher than five.
