Like many South American languages, Aikana does not have many number words-- really only three. It is possible to count to higher numbers in Aikana, but only by using long compound words combining the numbers one through four with the words for "hand," "foot," "fingers," and "toes." Most Aikana people use Portuguese numerals to count higher than four.
