Yucuna Counting Worksheet

Like most Arawakan languages, Yucuna does not have many number words-- really only three (1, 2, and many.) It is possible to count to high numbers in Yucuna, but only by using long compound words. Today, most numerals are borrowed from Spanish (as you can see below with sínku which comes from Spanish cinco -- the original Yucuna word for "five" was the unwieldy pahluwá té'ela kéele, which is seldom used today.)
