Dilzhe'e (Dilzhę́’é)

"Dilzhe'e" is an alternate name for the Western Apache tribe. It is used by many Western Apache people, particularly the Tonto Apaches and San Carlos Apaches, to refer to their own communities. The origin of this name is uncertain, but likely comes from a Navajo word for the call of a jaybird, dilzhé'ii, which the Navajos thought the Apache language resembled.
