Norteños (Norteño Apaches)
"Norteño" was the name of an Apache band of Texas and northern Mexico. They were
Mescalero speakers,
also known as the Aguas Nuevas or the Tsebekinéndé. Norteños is a Spanish name for them, just meaning
"Northerners" (in comparison with other Apache groups.) The Norteño Apaches have merged with other Mescalero people
and do not exist as a distinct tribe today.
