Arakmbut

"Arakmbut" is a tribal name used by the Amarakaeri and Huachipaeri tribes of Peru. The spelling "Arakmbut" is generally only used by Amarakaeri people, as most Huachipaeris spell and pronounce it "Harakmbut," with an H, instead. Arakmbut may originally have meant something along the lines of "good hunters," but is used to mean simply "human beings" or "people" today. It is also used by linguists to refer to the language family including Amarakaeri and Huachipaeri.
