Lari Lari (Laris, Lari)
"Lari Lari" was the name of one of the subgroups of the Aymara tribe of South America, located in what is now
the Tapacari province of Bolivia. Although the name Lari Lari is of Aymara origin, it is no longer preferred by Aymara people
of this region, because "Lari" came to be used as an ethnic slur against Indians by Spanish speakers in Bolivia. Today people of Lari Lari
descent prefer to be called simply Aymaras or indigenos, to avoid the stigma of the Spanish word "Lari."
