Stephen Laurent
Stephen Laurent is a late Abenaki elder and son of the former chief Joseph Laurent who worked to
preserve his native language in a dictionary and audio tapes. He is also known as Atian Laurent ("Atian" is
an Abenaki name that comes from the French version of "Stephen," Etienne.)
