Red Paint People
"Red Paint People" is an alternate name for the Chiricahua Apache tribe.
It is a translation of the Chiricahua band name Chihende, which literally means "red painted people."
The Chihendes merged with other Chiricahua people,
and today most of their descendents live in the Fort Sill Apache tribe in Oklahoma.
