Gens de Vache (Gens des Vaches)
"Gens de Vache" was an alternate name for the Arapaho tribe. This was a name given to them by the French, and
means "cow people" in French. (This name was not intended to refer to domestic cows, but to bison, which was an
important part of Arapaho diet and culture.)
