Kitigan Zibi

"Kitigan Zibi" is the name of one of the Algonquin First Nations of Quebec. They have also been known as the Desert River Algonquins in English, but their name means just the opposite-- "garden river" or "river of the planted field." The Kitigan Zibi Algonquins speak a Southern Algonquin dialect.
