Chief Many Horses
Many Horses was a Blackfoot Indian leader of the 19th century. He was also known as Little Dog and Heavy Shield.
(It was very common for Plains Indian men to have multiple names during their lifetime. "Many Horses" was the name he
became best known by due to the unusually large herd of horses he acquired in his life.) Many Horses was a chief of the Piegan,
or Piikani, tribe of Blackfoot. His birthdate was not recorded, but he died in battle against the Crows in 1867.
