The four cardinal colors in Maliseet-Passamaquoddy--black, white, red and yellow--also have short forms that can be used as prefixes. Those are mokosewi, wapi, pqe, and wisawi. But unlike most Algonquian languages, color words in Maliseet-Passamaquoddy are the same for both animate and inanimate nouns.
