Besawunena (Beesowuunenno', Beesoowuuyeitiit)
"Besawunena" is the name of one of the important historical divisions of the Arapaho tribe, and also the name of the
Arapaho dialect they spoke. There were Besawunena villages included in both the Northern Arapaho and Southern Arapaho
groupings, and people of Besawunena descent live in both Arapaho tribes today. Besawunena is generally considered
to have been a dialect of Northern Arapaho, though some linguists prefer to think of it as a closely related but distinct Arapahoan
language. The Besawunena dialect is no longer spoken today.
