Dixie Valley Indian Tribe
"Dixie Valley Tribe" is an alternate name for the Apwaruge band of California.
Apwaruge is their own name for themselves; Dixie Valley comes from the
English name of a valley in their tribal territory. Dixie Valley Atsugewi is sometimes
also used to refer to one of the two major dialects of the Atsugewi language,
also known as Apwaruge or Juniper Atsugewi.
