Hamawi
Hamawi is the name of one of the nine original bands of the Achumawi tribe of Northern California.
In English, they were known as the Likely Achumawi. (This name does not have anything to do with
how certain their English-speaking neighbors were about their identity... there is a California town near
the traditional Hamawi territory which is called Likely, and this place name simply became associated
with the band!)
