Hat Creek Indian Tribe
"Hat Creek Tribe" is an alternate name for the Atsugewi tribe of California.
Atsugewi is their own name for themselves; Hat Creek comes from the
English name of a river in their tribal territory. Hat Creek Atsugewi is sometimes
also used to refer to one of the two major dialects of the Atsugewi language,
also known as Pine Tree Atsugewi or Atsuge Proper.
