Native American Legends: Tonop
Name: Tonop
Tribal affiliation: Tunica
Type: Indian dwarves
Related figures in other tribes:
Yehasuri (Catawba),
Bohpoli (Choctaw),
Pukwudgie (Wampanoag)
According to some accounts, Tonop is the name of a mythical dwarf of Tunica folklore.
We should note that our Tunica-Biloxi volunteer has not heard of this being before, but many Tunica
stories have been lost over the years. Tonop was reported to be half a human's
height and also half as narrow, possibly also having only one eye.
