Vocabulary in Native American Languages: Yabarana Words

Welcome to our Yabarana vocabulary page! Yabarana is a Cariban language, related to other languages like Macusi and Carib. We have included twenty basic Yabarana words here, enough to provide a simple comparison with related American Indian languages. All the nouns are singular and all the verbs are 3rd person singular ("he or she sings") because many indigenous languages don't have a separate infinitive ("to sing") the way English and French do.

If you need to know a Yabarana word that is not currently on our page, you can take part in our Indian words fundraiser or visit our main Yabarana language site for more free resources.

Thanks for your interest in Native American languages!
