Angaite Indian Language (Enenlhet, Kyoma)
Language: Angaite is a Mascoian language spoken by around
800 people in Paraguay. The use of Angaite has been declining since many Angaite people are switching to the neighboring
indigenous language of Guarani, which is considered a language of greater opportunity for their families. However there are
still children being raised to speak the Angaite language as well.

Names: The origins of the tribal name Angaite are unknown--it was probably a place name. Angaite people today use it as
self-identification, though many Angaites also call themselves Enenlhet, meaning "people." Since a similar word for "people"
exists in several other related tribes such as the Lengua and Maskoy, it is more common to hear Angaite as their tribal name.
They call their language Angaite Pa'ayvoma.
Neighboring tribes call them Kyoma or Coyativis.
Alternate spellings of these names include Angaité, Angkayte, Angate, Enlhet, Kovalhvok, Koahlvok, or Koyaqteves.
