"Pay-pans" was an alternate name for the Blackfoot Nation of the Northern Plains. This was a historical name
and is not used today, and its origins are unknown. It may have been a band name, or it may have been a particularly
badly corrupted pronunciation of Piikani, a tribal name for the Blackfoot.
