Baure Language (Bauré, Maure)
Language: Baure is an endangered Arawakan language of Bolivia,
still spoken by only a few elders there. Baure is a
polysynthetic language with fairly
free word order.

Names: Baure is their tribal name for themselves, and is also sometimes spelled Bauré or Maure.
Historically, they have also been known by the name Chiquimitica or Chiquimiti.
Joaquiniano and
Carmelitano are the
Spanish names of two Baure subgroups, and have sometimes also been used
to refer to the dialects spoken in those communities.
