P'laikni (Plaikni)

"P'laikni" is an alternate name for the Pit River Indians of Northern California (the Achumawi and Atsegewi.) P'laikni is the name for these tribes in the language of the neighboring Klamath Indians. Literally it means "people up above" or "highlanders."
