Welcome to our Oaxacan Chontal vocabulary page! Oaxacan Chontal, also known as Chontal de Oaxaca, is an indigenous Mexican language. Some linguists consider it part of the Hokan language family, related to other languages like Washo and Karok. We have included twenty basic Chontal de Oaxaca words here, to compare with related American Indian languages. If you need to know a Chontal word that is not currently on our page, you can take part in our translation of Native American languages fundraiser or visit our main Chontal language site for more free resources.
